In 2065...

It is day one of the apocalypse that was predicted over 60 years ago. Because of the way we live, this could not be avoided. Five years ago, our source of coal ran out. We had to change our use of coal into oil and gas and all our power plants using coal had to get an expensive renovation, to be able to run on oil or gas. Because we were going through our fourth financial crisis within the last six decades, the government claimed that they could only afford one of two solutions: The environment-friendly but long-termed solution, or to continue using the rest of the fossil fuels. The installation of environment friendly solutions was postponed. Nothing has happened since.

Yesterday, after multiple attempts of assassination on the government, the reserves of oil and gas worldwide were emptied. Today, only few gas stations are opened because of the lack of oil. If you are lucky enough to find an open gas station, there would be miles of cars waiting for filling up their fuel tank and jerrycans. The streets where I live are very crowded at night, because people have no electricity and everybody is talking about their children and families and when the power will turn back on.

Also, some people out there literally went crazy. Earlier today, they managed to dissolve the government, with Greenpeace in front. Now, Greenpeace is more or less taking over the leadership of this country, like they did with seventeen other countries too. Because no one can agree on anything, no one will be able to go through this crisis safely. Nothing will happen until people are calmed down, and that might take some time. In five to ten years when the countries have established themselves again and built an environment friendly infrastructure, we can turn the electricity back on and try to function once more like a modern civilisation.
